NORTHANTS WRITERS’ INK
On 9th October 2023, Northants Writers’ Ink met to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the group. The meeting anticipated with pleasure the final results of the internal writing competion. As Mike Richards, Chair, noted, “It was very difficult to come to a decision because the standard of all entries was so high.”   Guest Judge Alan Keen said, “This was a tough competition. The terms and conditions were set deliberately tough to ensure that the highest standards were set for members to meet.” Alan spoke to the group about the judging process and confirmed how impressed he was with all the entries.   The group was then asked to read aloud the first 500 words of their pieces to give other members a preview of each story. Members agreed, the standard was exceptional. With some anticipation, the results were revealed and Alan presented the awards: 1st prize (£100) went to Jo for her story, “The Hairiest High”. 2nd prize (£50) went to Chris for his story, “More”. 3rd= prize (£12.50) went to Emma for her story, “Come with Me”. 3rd= prize (£12.50) went to Gemma for her story, “Looking for the Boys”. The group thanked Jason McLean - The Home Insurer - who generously sponsored the competition. The Home Insurer is a Northamptonshire based Property Insurance specialist.
